What We
Believe
Like millions of others around
the world today we believe the historic teachings of Christianity.
Here's a summary.
About God
We believe that God exists and
made the world we live in. We believe He gives life to every person and
that we're all responsible to Him. He made this fantastic world so that,
seeing it, we would want to reach out to Him. God is an incredible
Being. Although there is only one God, He exists in three Persons:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
About the Bible
Not only does God exist but, as we would expect, He has communicated
with us. He has done this in the pages of the Bible. You only have to
read the Bible through to see that it is like no other book on earth.
God's authorship of the Bible makes us keen to discover what it says and
happy to believe its message.
About Jesus Christ
As well as communicating through the Bible, God took the supreme step to
make Himself known to us. He came to earth and lived as a man. That man
was Jesus of Nazareth. He Himself, made the incredible claim that He was
God, in human form. We believe the only logical explanation of His
amazing life is that this claim was true. As the final proof, Jesus did
the unimaginable by coming back from the dead three days after His
crucifixion.
About Us
When God made us He made it very clear what He expected. He wanted us to
be happy and He wanted us to obey Him. These commands are recorded in
the Bible but we have rebelled against them - in fact we've tried to
shut God out altogether. This has made us distant from God and because
of His perfect justice He cannot let our rebellion go unpunished.
About Heaven
Who doesn't wish for heaven when life is over? What is it like? Heaven
is God's home! The Bible tells us that heaven exceeds our expectations
and imagination. Who will be there and what is required to get in? The
requirement, said Jesus, is to 'be perfect as My Father in heaven is
perfect'. The good news of the Bible is that what we could not achieve
for ourselves Jesus Christ has done. God sent His Son to take on Himself
the punishment for our sin. His life and His death satisfied the demands
of God for all who will rely on what He has done to save sinners for
heaven. |
